Skin care brand for the health-conscious seeking new partner or owner

Interested in the skin care business? Calgary, Canada-based MD-Spa Source – manufacturer and marketer of the Medique and Pure Ritual brands – is looking to sell or share ownership with the right person or organization.

Its premium-quality Medique line – 20 existing products and 39 ready to launch – targets medical professionals and professional spas, while Pure Ritual sells to spas.

The company was started in 2004 by a dermatologist. Although distribution has been limited, with sales peaking at $535,170 a year, the products have received enthusiastic acclaim, particularly by medical professionals and individuals shunning chemical additives.

“There is no doubt that today’s Gen-Xers and Millennials are turning to more natural ‘indie’ brands,” says company spokeswoman Vivienne O’Keeffe. “With some marketing initiatives and investment, I believe there is huge growth potential.”

“Medique has proven to be an excellent multi-generational and unisex product, says spa owner Brenda Sawatzky. “The results have been consistent and extremely effective. Clients who have tried them are asking for them.”

“I work in a spa that carries Medique,” says aesthetician Jodie Hearn. “Everyone who has used (Medique) products is in love with the results and the way the products make them feel, “I recommend this line to all of my friends, and most use it.”

The sale is a turn-key operation, with all processes, formulations and package designs in place. The Medique line ranges from cleansers and toners to skin protectants, eye treatments and masks, while Pure Ritual includes a body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and scrub.
